The Hymn of the Enneagram Six

Have you ever listened to a song and felt like it was speaking right to you? I was at church awhile back and had that experience during the praise/worship time. Afterward, I was reflecting on what it was about the song that spoke to me, and I realized it touched on the core struggle and motivation of my Enneagram number.

I’m a 6, which means I tend to struggle with fear and anxiety. My core motivation is safety and security. The lyrics of the song went like this:

You unravel me, with a melody

You surround me with a song

Of deliverance, from my enemies

Till all my fears are gone

I’m no longer a slave to fear

I am a child of God

I’m no longer a slave to fear

You split the sea so I could walk right through it

My fears are drowned in perfect love
