Sometimes Just Showing Up is a Win

I finished my CrossFit workout this morning, and I felt exhausted. It was a challenging workout, and I’ve been struggling to get back in shape following an injury. Throughout the workout, I basically just felt like I was surviving and struggling to get through it. I had to lower the prescribed weights, and by the time the workout was over, I felt defeated.
Life is a Mixed Bag
As I reflected on how I was feeling afterward, however, I realized that’s kind of like life. Some days, you feel like you have your stuff together, and you’re ready to take on the world. But other days, you might feel tired, down, struggling, or not quite yourself. We all have both types of days. I think the greater test of character is what you do on those days where you don’t feel 100%.
Sometimes All You Can Do is Show Up
Sometimes, all you can do is show up. That was me this morning. I wasn’t at my best, and I wasn’t going to set any records during my CrossFit workout. But I could show up, lace up my shoes, and give it my best. And I could let that be enough.
Maybe you’re at a place where you are struggling today, and not feeling 100%. You know you aren’t going to be your ideal self today, and maybe you feel disappointed about that. Maybe you’re even tempted to throw in the towel, and try again tomorrow. But could you, just for today, show up and do your best? Give today your all and see what happens. Let go of the outcome and let showing up be enough.
